Love Is…

by Dumb Mom on February 14, 2012

Feeling the love today?!

Yeah, me neither.

Not yet anyway.

But, I bet Dumb Dad has something spectacular planned!

Or, probably just a little bit of something that is covered in chocolate, filled with calories, and begging to get in my belly.

Something I DON’T have to share with him or The Dudes.

Honestly, we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day (or any holiday that we have to go out and wait to eat for longer than 20 minutes; sitters charge by the hour, yo!).

We maybe eat a little chocolate (but we I do that everyday).

And have dinner together (while The Dudes scream at each other, and complain about my delicious roasted cauliflower, like every other night od the week).

And, while there’s nothing super romantic about that, we’re not particularly grand-gesture-equals-romance type people.

For us, love is a lifetime of romance.  Shown in small ways (like him not complaining about how I don’t really rinse the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher), every day, even when we’re super exhausted, or super busy, or super over our kids screaming their ever loving faces off.

We don’t require gifts (although I really do enjoy them thoroughly) or treats or anything other than the opportunity to share a pillow from time to time.

Because our love is not always dressed up pretty, or planned out perfectly.

It’s being together any way you can.  And loving it.  Almost all the time.

Even if there’s not space in his lap for you anymore…

Because I’m way bigger and it’s also filled with kids…

Love is remembering why you liked each other before you had kids and promising to one day think about that again.  You know, when they’re asleep.  Or at college.  Or something.

So, what’s love like in your life?!

I asked a bunch of bloggers to share what love is to them.

This what they said.

Feel free to leave it in the comments (or, I can add you if you want!).

And then go have yourself a really lovely day.

*Thank you bunches to every single blogger who shared their love with me today.  I’m happy to know you all and have you as part of my world.  Even if it is only digitally.  It still counts.  Totally.
