BList: Best Dad Bloggers Ever.

by Dumb Mom on February 27, 2012

I know, you guys have been dying for a new BList since the last one dropped.

Well, as people pleasing is pretty much what I live for (next to cupcakes, Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake, and The Dudes on there not-totally-annoying days), here you have it!

And, in an effort to be less sexist up in here and stop catering to just the mommies of the world, I’m bringing you an all Dude BList.

Only blogs awesomely written entirely by Dudes (none of those Dudes-who-blog-with-their-wives collabos allowed because I find them annoying anyway) who have offspring to call their own were eligible to be included in this edition of the BList.

Because I wanted to give a shout out to the dad bloggers in the parenting genre.

Because I’m pretty sure that setting off their Google alerts is the only way most of them will ever have cause to get down with the Dumb awesome like that.

And, quite frankly, so are they.

All Dude BList: Best Blogs Written by Dudes with Babies That They Claim on Their Taxes To Call Their Own

1.  Midget Man of Steel Presents: Mental Poo.  Anyone who still uses the word midget, in public, without any remorse is someone I’d like to get to know a little bit better.  Maybe it’s because I have an internal rage against political correctness, or possibly it’s just that the word midget has always sent me into hysterics (calm down, I don’t mean actually laugh at midgets; it’s just the word I laugh at).  Either way, that’s exactly what this Dude’s blog does every time I read it.  Makes me laugh so, so hard.  Like, I-better-get-up-and-empty-the-bladder-lest-you-see-the-affects-birthing-3-babies-can-have-on-one’s-pelvic-floor laugh.  Do your Kegel’s ladies; you’re gonna need them!  Need a place to start?  Let me point you in the right direction.  Two words: The Thingy (and apparently if you want to read it, and you do, trust me, you’ll have to email him about it.  Feels weird, but worth it.  Totally.).

2.  Daddy Runs A Lot.  I make it my business to secretly hate people who enjoy exercising.  I know, totally petty and ugly of me.  But, I hate exercising (mostly because I hate to sweat.  Or breathe hard.) so very much that I just can’t help but be a teeny bit suspicious of people who would rather do it than, um, eat Butterfingers while hiding from your kids in the bathtub not.  And then they look all healthy and slim and stuff.  Gag.  Okay, I don’t want to gag, I want to see their naked bellies and touch them a little.  So, in spite of the fact that this guy would rather eat fruit than cake (gasp), and sometimes even wants to run AFTER going to the gym, I think he’s a pretty cool dude.  I love that he called his scale an a$shole (because mine totally is too).  And I love how interactive he is in the blogosphere with the of leaving comments and stuff (not on my blog, because he probably knows how I feel about working out, but I see him all over the place so it counts).  And, I love that he titles all of his posts the same.  Makes it seem all intentionally awesome and stuff.  Y’all know how I appreciate the awesome.

3.  Cry It Out.  I love the title of this blog.  But, during my Dad BList research, I stumbled across a post about how he went on the CBS This Morning Show to discuss being a dad who decided to stay at home which made me like him even more!  Why?  Because I too have fallen victim to the freakshow condition he describes when appearing on a news broadcast.  While I didn’t think his presentation of the condition was nearly as advanced as mine was (seriously, my first appearance was so bad they scrapped it, which had apparently NEVER happened before), I still like that I’m not alone in this whole going-on-TV-specifically-to-embarrass-myself thing.  Plus, it got me to spend a little time getting to know his blog.  And, you know what?  I like it too.  A lot.  If for no other reason than Awesome Girl.  She would be a great addition to The Dude Squad.  They appreciate super awesomeness even more than I do.  Also? This man crafts!  Check out his super cool Angry Birds Dress or Awesome Girl’s super costume if you need proof!

4.  The Busy Dad Blog.  I started Twitter stalking this Dude back in ‘09 when I began to write pBd like I meant it.  He’s funny online.  I like that in a blogger.  But, it’s not really the funny that’s secured BDB (my nickname for him, hope he doesn’t mind) on this month’s BList, it’s his Lunchbox Daily that’s done it.  Yes, I have a tiny heart so of course I did the infamous, girly ahhhhh, when I discovered that this man draws a picture on his son’s lunchbox every school day of life.  Because it’s freakin’ sweet right?  Who doesn’t get a little sloppy over that kind of devotion?  The fact that they are awesome filled drawings exposing the secrets of Pong, discussing the misfortune of merfish, and explaining the ugly secret behind Disney’s industry dominance, makes me love them way more.

5.  How to be a Dad.  This blog?  Is consistently the funniest Dad made blog I’ve ever had the pleasure of being redirected to.  I mean he knows about the Family H!  I told you about that little sleep formation from hell ages ago!  And this is proof that I’m not a complete crazy person.  My favorite part of this site though is not the funny videos, or the entertaining snapshots; it’s the diagrams.  Super hilarious and easily pinnable…

Everyone loves a blog that makes feeding your Pinterest addiction as easy as ignoring your children while you do it.*

Looking for more Dad penned blogs I think you should check out?!

Of course you are!  And, while these didn’t get a personalized Dumb Mom write up, they do get a generic Dumb Mom endorsement which, sadly, pulls about the same weight in the world.

5 More Dad Blogs to Read On the Rare Occasion You’re Not Reading parenting BY dummies Now

1.  Debut Dad.

2.  Geek Dad.

3.  Dadcentric.  Which is really more of a compilation blog featuring a whole mess of Dads getting their blog on.

4.  Adeline’s Daddy.

5.  Smonk You

*Chillax.  I don’t ignore my kids to get on Pinterest; I do most of my pinning with at least one of them peering annoyingly over my shoulder or perched atop my lap while me asking asinine questions about what I’m doing.  I have been known to push them off of my lap with a quickness when they begin interrupting my ability to repin something particularly yummy, funny, or gorgeous to my boards!

No Dumb Mom write up, but I’m still very appreciative of even being mentioned amongst the web’s elite daddy bloggers who have been doing this for such a long time. Thank you and cheers to the daddy bloggers :)

I am honored to be on this list (with great company). Dry erase markers are expensive, so this post can be considered my ROI for the month. Thanks! By the way, Loukia’s comment was totally unsponsored!

Rod,
I think she wants you dude! WTF?! Any lady with kids that compliments a single dude with kids can’t be all bad. Can they? Huh?

Thank God for Google Alerts. Glad to be on this list with so many other great sites. Except for that Jim Lin guy. Such an a-hole. ;)

Thanks again for the very nice write-up. It means a lot. Seriously.

I always have someone sitting next to or on me when I’m on Pinterest too. What’s that? Why did they take a picture of that? Can you make me a cake like that? Save that for me. Sheesh kids. Back off.

Thank you, so much, for posting this. I’m showing it to my husband to prove that there is such a thing as a daddy blog.
