Wordful Wednesday. How to Throw a Ninja Birthday Party.

by Dumb Mom on January 24, 2012

And, exhale.

The ninja party is officially over!

I can feel your excitement over this development.  Or maybe it is just that my very own excitement over putting this shindig behind me is just so very great.

I don’t know.

Either way, it’s over and done with.

Never to be resurrected again (I have a thing about never repeating a birthday theme, call me crazy).

But, to be memorialized and reminisced on with the aid of photos of course…

See how acceptable everything looked?

I’m happy with that.

I love the way the Ninja Cake Pops turned out (although the taste of candy eyes, gag!) and the Candy Sushi as well (which was pretty gag worthy itself).

I mean, I didn’t expect it to look rock star awesome like some of the amazing things I’ve pinned on Pinterest.

But, I did my best (under the circumstances which involved me not being skilled in the art of crafting and my need to fly cross country for a funeral only to to return a mere 3 days before said party was scheduled to pop off).

And he had a bunch of fun.

You know, ninja-ing and such.

Which is really all that matters in the end, right?!

All I really want is for them to look back at their childhood and think, “Man, my mom was friggin’ AWESOME!”

Or something else that makes them want  to visit me every weekend to mow my lawn and buy me pretty things for my birthday.

That’s why I exhaust myself celebrating these milestones with them.  So they will worship me when they grow up.

And also, ‘cause I love them.

I really, really love ‘em.

How do you make Life a Special Occasion at your house?

Follow me as I chronicle ours every month with Hallmark’s Life is a Special Occasion campaign, designed to help us remember to celebrate and enjoy life’s fleeting moments (seriously, one day, even this monumental 4 year old birthday celebration will feel like a teeny weeny moment in our lifetime); the moments between the milestones.

Have something to be Wordful about this week?  Link up here and be sure to pop over to Angie’s Seven Clown Circus and check out her wordfulness too!

And, be sure to come back and link up with me again on Friday for TGIPinterest!  If you are nursing a Pinterest addiction like I am, you don’t want to miss out on all of this awesome!

*Want to know about the birthday décor?  Course you do because you are going to Pin the heck out of it, right?!  The candy sushi idea came from Not Martha.  The Holdstix 4ct Easy to Use Chopsticks were ordered from Amazon.  I made the ninja cake pops from scratch all by my bad self, and the cupcake toppers came courtesy of BFF (who is incidentally working on starting up her own making-things-awesome blog as I type!).  The ninja stars were folded with Dumb Dad’s mad origami skills (he made some awesome cranes too but Dumb Dog snacked on those before I could grab a picture).

**I am a part of the Hallmark Life Is a Special Occasion blogging campaign and receive compensation from them for my participation.  They don’t make me love my family, celebrate birthdays, or even talk about their products.  I do that ‘cause I think they’re awesome and one time, I rapped for them, and they freakin’ loved it!  All content and opinions are my own.  Want to see who else is Hallmark blogging and sharing life’s special occasions?  Be sure to sign up for their newsletters too!

***Rarely  Pretty much never, but I decided to try it out today Sometimes I use affiliate links.  So, if you buy something I recommend I might wind up with 18 cents of the money from that.

This alone is tempting me to accept that pinterest invitation. I always have mega-lame birthday ideas.

This was totally kick a$$! And, if they look back and say anything otherwise, then, well, I don’t know what to say.

I always feel that “thank goodness it’s over” relief when I am done with a birthday party. I don’t like throwing birthday parties… Your man’s looks pretty awesome, though! I’m excited you’re doing a Pinterest link up, too! Friday’s the DAY!

You are super Mom for still getting such an awesome party together after the week you had. You know it’s true.

And I ADORE Pinterest. Wish I’d thought of it. I’ll be back to link up on Friday. :) (I hope, I’m traveling so…)

I love the ninja cake pops! Did you make those yourself – alone? Without the help of a store? Geez, lady, that’s impressive!

How fun! I wish I could design a fun party for my girls, but we don’t have any friends (kid or adult) to party with, so we’re pretty bland.

Oh how fun! They’ll definitely be worshiping you while they grow up and when they grow up. ;)

I think you totally nailed that theme. Your pins are fantastic: even if you only did half of them, he probably DID say, “Wow, my mom is AWESOME!” Not an easy one to pull off, mama, so hat’s off to you.
