TGIPinterest. Join Me for a Pin This Challenge!

by Dumb Mom on January 20, 2012

I’m in the mood for newness in 2012, can you tell?

pBd got a facelift (didya notice? Please say you noticed!), I’m living a life of depravity, and now I’m fully accepting that I probably have something of a borderline obsessive disorder of some sort (that does NOT require intervention, because if you try try to take this away from me, I WILL cut you) with Pinterest.

It’s cool.

It’s not like I’m over here selling my kids toys to support my Pinterest habit (because Pinterest is free, duh) or anything.

It’s a perfectly safe and effective way to spend an afternoon ignoring your kids being inspired to greatness.

And, everyone wants to be a little bit great, right?!

I know I do.

Matter of fact, I’d even say that being great (read awesome) is basically my life’s goal (along with being thinner and forever young).

So, that’s exactly what this new tidbit of pBd awesome is gonna be about.

Consider it a call to action.

An opportunity for you to be great.

Maybe not in life, but certainly on Pinterest.

Every week I will present to you a challenge.

Could be something as easy as, Pin This: Books I Love More Than Sex Cupcakes Life Itself  (so I can find something to read already, I’m in a dry spell that is making me antsy).

Then you would hop over to Amazon (or Pinterest if you’re of the repinning sort) and pin the Twilight Saga, The Hunger Games trilogy, Water for Elephants, The Help, and maybe something you read in high school, call it a board, and be done with it.  After you come back and share it with me, of course.

Or, maybe I need some ideas for a certain Dude’s birthday party we are scheduled to celebrate this weekend and, because I’m all procrastinatey-last-minute-bad-mom-lady, I need some creative party ideas to make things look fun and feel festive up in here, stat!

Then, I might say Pin This: Dude Party Ideas so you guys can scurry around to your favorite party planning blogs and such and hook a mama up with some easy-for-anyone-with-hands-regardless-of-actual-aptitude type games, décor, and goodie bag ideas for me to dumb down and duplicate.

You’d pin it all up.

Then head back over here and link away (yep, there will be a linky)!

Fun, right?

Totally.

But, since it’s really too late for even you to save me from party disaster (unless you have a link to some fun ninja party ideas I could use that you wanna leave in the comment section perhaps?!), I’m giving you something easy to do for next week: Valentine’s Day Ideas!

You know, the super cool kind that will allow me to blow the doubting socks offa all of the room mom’s who give me the side eye when I show up to help out at the class parties.

I know, we’re still a couple of weeks away from the big day, but when you’re me and you’ve got a lot to prove and a very low level of skill and creativity at your disposal you need to start early!

So, here’s the challenge: Pin This: In Yo Face Valentine’s Day Awesome to Impress The Room Mom.

I already did mine (click the link).  It’s a work in progress, Kay?! I need you guys to make yours so I can steal from it repin from it.

You have a week.

Then the linky for sharing and challenge #2 will be up!

So, who’s with me?!*

*So, just to be clear (because I know I confuse people with my crazy talk), every Friday I’m going to issue a Pin This challenge.  You will spend an afternoon on Pinterest “working” on your board.  Then, on the following Friday (the first one will be 1/27) you come back and add a link to your board to my linky.  Easy.  Fun.  Awesome.  So, don’t forget, kay?!  I might just have a surprise for one lucky participant!  Because I love Pinterest you that much!

Hm I’ve been fighting against Pinterest. Seriously. I visited once and was overwhelmed, overloaded, my eyes!, so I haven’t been back. But. Since I have resolved to make this a fun Valentine’s Day for the girls (and I guess the boy too but he’s 2, what does he know?) I suppose I can head back over and create my own board. Because I think it’s the looking at other people’s stuff that might make me OH CRAP! HOW IS IT 10:00 ALREADY when I started looking at 1:00.

OK, love it. I’m in. I was *just* thinking about Valentine’s Day this morning and thought I should create a board with some cute ideas for homemade Valentines that my boys can start working on… I also love this idea because maybe it will help me to finally figure out Pinterest…am I the only one who doesn’t totally get it? I joined a month or so ago, created several boards (I love having all of my favorite things in one spot–super convenient) but now I get emails daily telling me that people are following me or have re-pinned my pins… Am I supposed to go follow them back? Is that part of the “time-suck” that people are complaining about–they are spending too much time catching up on their friends’ boards? I need a Pinterest tutorial, for sure. But I’m in on the challenge…off I go!

If you want to you can follow them back. I’m sure they would like it. I don’t spend much time doing that, I follow pinteresting :) people back like once a week and that’s it. The time suck is looking at all of the pretty things!

Oh can’t wait! I started a Valentine’s day board yesterday after getting depressed that with the removal of xmas decoations (we are sooo late and lazy in doing this) my house looks void of all sorts of style/decor. Instead of getting creative and decorating for real I think I’ll use valentine’s day as a filler until I figure out what I really want to do. In comes Pinterest to my rescue!

Nice! And that’s the beauty of this thing. Now I can find everything I want without having to scour Pinterest to do it! And it’s super easy b/c there is no blogging involved!

I love you and Pinterest…a little too much. lol But I’m up for a challenge! I don’t have a Valentine’s Day board, just some crafts all thrown together. I get re-organizing just for you. ;-)

Our MLK activity was a Pinterest idea.
