People always say that they wish they could get their kids to sit still for photos and they wonder how I do it with The Dudes.
Well, me too, and I don’t.
They never sit still for photos.
They never do what I ask them to.
And they always screw up the perfect photo visions I have in my mind with their being kidness and junk.
But, guess what.
It doesn’t matter, they never will, and I think I kinda like it.
I may yell a lot when I’m taking pictures of their wiggly, giggly, fidgety selves, but that’s just because I’m a yeller.
I like that the photos of them always capture their true essence; their natural selves, and usually what they come up with is 100 times better than what I envisioned.
I’m just not imaginative enough to accomplish by trying what they accomplish by mistake.
#3 proved it last week when I forced him into a sorta clean, way-too-small, button up shirt for Valentine’s Day photos.
I wanted him to smile sweetly, blow kisses, make a heart with his fingers. Something Valentine’s Day-ish and cute.
He did this stuff instead…

Moral of the story?
Kids are better at being themselves than they are at being who you want them to be. Oh, and they don’t listen. Not even if you yell.
Have photos to share with Seven Clown Circus and me? Link up here, and be sure to head over there to see what she has going on this week too!

Your kids are so fun! Looks like you had a GREAT Valentines Day:-)
I so agree. the candid shots are always the most treasured. I love your pictures!
When I remind myself no matter how much I yell to smile, say cheese, or dang it sit still, I usually will capture a great smile. Think my hubster and child plot against me since they know how uptight I get over the “perfect” picture
I feel your pain! But, then I really love how crazy some of the other pictures can be. They’re not what I planned, but sometimes the unplanned is just plain ol’ cuter!
I think that one of the reasons you take such amazing photos is because you capture the motion and energy.
Your photos are always adorable! Looks like you’ve got quite the personality on your hands–he’s so dang cute!
Those are so cute!
I think my frustration comes from trying to get all three in one pic…letting them be them means I can’t do it!
These couldn’t be any cuter!
Your son is the cutest kid ever. He might even trump mine….though mine had a huge tantrum before bed so he isn’t winning any points at the moment.
Good point! you do take some really seriously awesome pictures, what kind of camera do you have?
