Now that The Big Dudes are in the throes of this…
Dude #3 and I are up to our eyeballs in…
That’s right readers, nothing.
We are up to our eyeballs in NOTHING.
A lonely bit of lonely nothing that we enjoy ALONE.
We walk home from the bus stop alone…
We play outside alone…
And we color in our hand-me-down-mostly-colored coloring books, alone…
Yeah, yeah, we’ve got each other, but this each other is just not as exciting, or fun, or cool as our old each other.
You know the one that included The Big Dudes.
Now, Dude #3 and I are so friggin’ sick of looking at each other bored it’s not even funny.
And you know what being bored gives you?
New inventions (or a baby, depending on who you are).
Like the new little game #3 recently made up. I like to call it donkey climbing.
And it goes a little something like this, hruah (sorry, I like to add hruah to all of my old school rap references because it makes them more authentic and funny. To me. It makes them more funny to me.)…
He donkey kicks his feet up onto stuff and then balances on his hands. He’s getting pretty good at it.
And my walls, and my fridge, and my cute white pants are all getting covered in dirty little donkey-baby foot prints.
Awesome!
Someone please give us something more fun to do than this.
I’m going a little cuckoo over here and apparently so is my toddler!
I’m actually missing summer.
You know, the summer I was dreading? The summer I was begging to end just a few short weeks ago?
The summer filled with the incessant whining-crying-tattling-fighting-knock-down-drag-out-ugly-sibling-rivalry of #1 and #2?
Yeah, that one.
Because at least I was going insane from the activity and the drama of it all. At least there were sounds (way too many) and excitement (way too much) and the unexpected to expect.
Now I expect to wake up every morning, run around my house like a crazy person, rush #1 and #2 to the bus stop just in time to chase the thing down, and then come home and listen to #3 drone on and on talk endlessly about Dora, Boots, Minnie, Ariel, and the Chippetts (yeah, he’s a wee bit girl crazy at the moment).
So shoot me if I miss this…
How could I not?! It’s so much better than this…
Which is why I am having a wonderful, star-studded (yes with real life blog-lebrity judges!), So NOT dumb End of Summer Photo Contest for Photos That Are So NOT dumb with an amazing Tassimo Home Brewing System up for grabs.
Because summer was awesome.
And this is sorta just not.

Awwww… bless him. He looks so sad.
Poor little guy I remember those days when Devin was the only one left at home and the big ones were at school. He was so pitiful.. Luckily we lived in town so we could walk up town or go to the park.. Then when he started preschool I was pitiful. He was all excited
Oh, he looks so sad! Although the donkey climbing looks pretty awesome.
It is awesome. If you like foot prints on your wall. Or your pants. Or your face!
Hey,
Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog at: http://www.katecollings.blogspot.com I really appreciated it.
How about drawing a chart of things you have to find in the garden or on a walk or at the supermarket? Like a little shopping list / eye spy tick list. Or you could also make up songs anddances to put on a show to show the older Dudes at the end of the week. Little Dude #3 could also help make the costumes etc.
That’s just off the top of my head.
Good luck
Kate

He did Single Ladies for The Dudes when they got home today. Does that count?!
I don’t know….donkey kicking is pretty fun. I say YOU give it a shot! You might just turn your whole attitude around!
You’re right. It could work. Or, I could wind up with a broken wrist from attempting to support all of my weight on a couple of ill-equipped flimsy bones, not up for the task. Either way could add some spice around here!
That last picture is awesome. Love it.
Poor little guy! Its always more fun when everyone is around!!
Awww, the poor little dude. He’s so sad. You need to find him some friends Momma. Stat!
Read Thursday’s post…not happening!
Awesome donkey-kicking moves, dude!
School: it’s a love-hate relationship . . . you lose the whining — and the entertainment.
Great photos, though. Love that summer shot, even though it makes me miss the beach. Sigh.
What’s this?! A comment from one of my all time favorite commenters. AWE-SOME!
You need to find a play group right away.
You don’t need to talk to all the uppity moms that are there just sit and enjoy your toddler not bothering you.
Or maybe declare its take your brother to school day?
I’ve tried the whole playgroup thing, but I don’t really like other kids. Or their moms.
Awww! Poor guy! I love, love the pics especially the last one.
Happy WW!
Oh those lonely looking photos break my heart! Poor little guy…
Awwee! Poor baby. He’s so cute!

we’re feeling some of that same boredom too, luckily my baby neice comes 3 times a week, she’s pretty entertaining
Hey! I love your blog and read it every chance I can get. I have a question though. How do you write a sentence then put a line through it? I feel like I have tried everything!
Those pics are priceless! He’s breaking my heart with missing his brothers.
Oh, that last picture just grabbed my heart and squeezed.
Poor guy…he looks SO lonely!!!
Awwww but look at those boots they are so awesome!!
My 2 yr old is lonely without big brother home too
Awww. Poor little dude. But I gotta admit…the donkey climbing looks fun!
Thanks for linking up with me today for WW. I hope you had a fabulous day! (And it wasn’t too boring…)
This could be my post exactly. And I thought I was the only one feeling this way with my daughter. It’s just weird and I feel odd like I should be doing something with her……but then the baby comes over and she enjoys her etc etc and I don’t feel so bad…kinda.
You capture such beautiful moments. Thanks so much for linkin up for WW!
Aww. My liilest guy misses his twin big bros too! When we pick them up from school he holds their hands all the way to the car. It is soo sweet!
Oh, that last shot is just so sad…..poor thing. Maybe a story time at the library? Ours has one a couple times a week…I bet when #1 and #2 get back, it’s wonderful for like 10 minutes, and then you are all ready for them to go back to school!
Those photos are sweet and very sad at the same time.. And beautiful. Stopped by from SITS.
