The competition was fierce.
The judges were harried (if you were at Bloggy Boot Camp in Philly, you may have seen Mama Kat manhandling me in the corner during lunch. That lady is unstable I tell you. Un. Stable. So I let her have her choice of finalists. Because she’s all big and stuff. Nothing I could do.*).
But, alas, we had to narrow it down to our five favorites.
But, we do have a few honorable mentions (aka people we almost picked, but then, um, didn’t) to announce first…

*Mama Kat didn’t threaten me, manhandle me, or try to injure me at all. Everyone was pretty much in agreement about who the favorites were and possibly some people were “forced” to change their pick a little. Just a little to prevent overlap. We worked it all out cordially and without her Nacho Libre-ing me in the Hyatt. She knows I would roll her up anyway. I’m just that kind of gangster.

Aww…Thanks for the honorable mention! Though, I really did want one of those awesome coffee makers, I’m happy to have hung with some great photographers.

Okay – because I’m a words girl, and an art teacher, and a photographer and should have been a cheerleader but I was to chubby and EMO…{and am so impressed with all the finalists} I HAVE to comment on all the shots…
Daily Dribbles – beautiful mood and processing. And the composition. nice. Wherever it is, I want to be there. {and I don’t really do water…}
Buried with Children – Popsicle = summer! And all the expressions are just as yummy. Make me giggle and as we say at our house – “get the squeezies”
The Mommy Mambo – LOVE the blue and orange! And the bubbles… are the best detail ever.
wild thyme – probably the last year I can use The Girl as a kid model… she’s so lovely. {I know she’s behind an icecream cone, but oh my…}
Texan Mama – bokeh…bokeh…bokeh. Love the eyes and the messy face and the DoF, but my favorite detail is the lines from the chain and how they lead your eye and feel like movement. beautiful shot.
Safire – Dude. I wish I could master the silhouette like this! This is a fantastic shot with movement and beautiful light.
Dianna Kennedy – What amazing color and reflections. I can see why you want it up on the wall – and in a big size.
The Miss Elaine-ous Life – I am usually all about asymmetrical composition, but these boys walking straight down the middle of the shot is WONDERful. And as a mom of mostly boys {now men}, the shirtless detail is the best part. {that and the pull-up peeking…
