First Monday of the month only means one thing around here…Ask Me Monday!
But, since you guys haven’t been nosy lately, and I don’t have any medical history secrets to divulge, I’m going to answer the most important question that you are all asking yourselves right now: How in the heck do I (and by I, I mean YOU) get to be an ifriend, and what does it even mean?!
Well, lemme tell ya.
All you have to do is ask. Oh, and be a follower of mine.
It really is that easy.
And it really just means that you recognize pBd for the awesome mom mecca that it is want to share something (a mom tip, a story, a lesson learned, a yummy recipe, whatever) with my readers and me.
Think of it as just a short intro to you for us.
So, wanna be down with the Dumb?
Leave a comment on this post and I’ll get in touch with you to schedule your big day!
Now, moving right along to today’s Featured Dummy ifriend.
She is the Blogger Formerly Known as Maman and Gourmand and her ifriend post was originally scheduled for like 6 months ago.
But some stuff happened, some super big life stuff, actually, and I wound up doing her post for her. You can read it here if you want; I wrote a holiday themed poem and everything.
But, now things are better (sort of) and she’s doing her own post, in her own words, about happier, make-your-mouth-water, gluten free type stuff.
Enjoy! (And don’t forget to come back tomorrow and link up your Mom Tip Tuesday posts, all participants will get an extra entry in the Flirty Apron giveaway, you know, if you even entered it in the first place!)
Hello Everyone!
This is my first guest post so bear with me. Writing a blog is kind of like talking to a wall most days…at least on my blog anyway. I’m not nearly as entertaining as our D.U.M.B. mom here but I can cook, and bake….and I’m pretty good at eating as well. I suck at photography as you can see. I blame my Kodak Easy Share. I dream in DSLR. Maybe one day.
So who the heck am I? What would make for a good read? Well lets talk about this cupcake. Because this is what I do. This is who I am. A food blogger who happens to be a stay at home mom of two crazy little girls and a stepmomma to 3 teenage stepsons and a very happy wife to a husband who is glad he married someone who can cook. Food brought my family together. I had to teach myself to cook to save money. I found a passion.
Gluten Free Key Lime Cheese Cake Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Puree Frosting.
Why gluten free? Because about a week ago I discovered that I am allergic to gluten. It’s called Celiac Disease. I had a laundry list of the symptoms. I couldn’t believe it. Finally an explanation for what was wrong. You know how I found out I had it? By looking up alternative flours for a recipe throw down I am doing soon. Crazy. A week into my new diet and I feel like a new person. Now I’m overweight y’all. It’s obvious that I like food. But feeling healthy…it’s worth it. So my big problem is flavor. I mean what is the point of eating food if it doesn’t taste good right?
The very nature of being a foodie is respect for ingredients. For the best ingredients. So my mission is to work around this gluten problem. Boy oh boy I have never had so much respect for ingredients. In celebration of my renewed health I decided to make a extremely flavorful cupcake. You can’t get more flavorful than cheesecake…or key limes…or strawberries can you?
For those afraid of the kitchen don’t be. I only started cooking 4 years ago. I grew up on cheap mac and cheese out of the box. A day didn’t go by I where I didn’t eat something canned or devoid of flavor. It was tragic. After my love affair with Burger King and KFC ended I realized that I can do better. I followed Taste of Home recipes. Things I really wanted to eat. Then I got a bit more brave…I started to make things from scratch. I failed many a time. All I have to say is thank God for rug shampooers. Now I am to the point where I create my own recipes. Because I have to save a little something for my own blog, The Home Made Cook, I will be posting the recipe there. Also I have to keep this under 500 words and I am already at 493..and now I am at 502.
